Disclaimer

LocalCNC is a directory and messaging platform that connects people who need parts made with local makers who have the equipment to make them. We are not a party to any job, quote, or agreement between a buyer and a maker.

We don't review, guarantee, or take responsibility for the outcome of any project — including quality, workmanship, materials, pricing, timelines, or whether a job gets finished at all. Deadlines, revisions, and delivery are worked out directly between the buyer and the maker, and it's on both of them to agree on the details before work starts.

Makers listed on LocalCNC are independent operators, not LocalCNC employees or contractors. We do our best to take a first look at shops before they're listed, but that isn't a certification of their skill, insurance, or business practices. Use your own judgment — get specifics in writing with the maker before committing to a job, and treat any project on this site the same way you'd treat hiring an independent contractor found anywhere else.

If something goes wrong with a job, we're not able to mediate, refund, or enforce an outcome between the two parties. We do moderate the platform itself — reviewing shop listings before they go live and keeping an eye out for messages that look like scams or abuse — but that's the extent of our involvement.

Privacy policy

This section covers what we collect through LocalCNC, why, and what we do — and don't do — with it.

What we collect

• Account info: name, email, contact (phone or secondary email), and role (maker or buyer).
• Shop listings: shop name, location, equipment, materials/services, bio, and any profile or work photos, for makers who submit a listing.
• Quote requests and messages: project details, files, and any images you send through a quote request or a conversation thread.

How we use it

Your info is used to run the platform: showing your listing in the directory, connecting buyers and makers through quote requests, sending you account emails (verification, password resets, and notices about your own listings or quotes), and letting us review pending shop listings and flagged messages for scams, abuse, or attempts to route around the platform.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
• We don't spam you. The only emails you'll get are account and transactional ones tied to something you did — signing up, resetting a password, or activity on a listing or quote you're part of.
• We don't show your contact info publicly. It's only shared with the specific maker or buyer you're in a conversation with, and with us for moderation.

Storage and security

Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Message attachments are stored privately and only served to the people in that conversation. We use standard hosting and storage infrastructure (Cloudflare) to run the site.
